ADRIANA VALDEZ
Adriana attended the University of California, Santa Barbara for her undergraduate studies and majored in Sociology. She went on to obtain her Masters in Social Work with a concentration in mental health from the University of Southern California. After graduating with her MSW, she sought a career working with children, adolescents, and their families. Adriana then pursued work in a medical setting as a Renal Social Worker but was ultimately drawn back to helping adolescents on probation who were mandated to treatment in a residential setting. Due to her passion and eagerness to provide services to a marginalized community, she became a clinical supervisor - supervising the residential therapists.
Adriana’s approach to therapy is client centered, empathetic, and caring. She is a trauma-informed therapist, views interpersonal challenges through attachment theory, utilizes client’s strengths, brings mindfulness practices and a cognitive (CBT) approach to her work.
Adriana has experience working with people struggling with everyday problems to those who are suffering from depression, anxiety, a trauma history, and substance abuse. Additionally, Adriana works with adolescents who have experienced acute and chronic traumas stemming from child abuse, abandonment, community violence and familial trauma that has resulted in behavioral issues, substance abuse, and legal consequences.
Adriana believes that therapy works when the client feels safe and secure in the therapeutic relationship but also believes that bringing humor into the therapeutic environment is just as important.
Adriana works with adolescents and adults. She provides services in English and Spanish.
