
SYLVIA GARCIA
Sylvia attended Columbia University for her undergraduate degree in Art History and Visual Arts. After graduating, she discovered that she could combine her passion for art and helping others. Sylvia pursued a Masters in Psychology at Phillips Graduate Institute and completed the MFT and Art Therapy program. Sylvia specializes in working with individuals ages 5-25. She has extensive experience working primarily with at risk youth, young adults, children and families struggling with homelessness, domestic violence, substance use, depression, anxiety, and other behavioral issues. She is also experienced with crisis counseling and working with youth struggling with suicidal ideation, self-harm, and LGBTQ issues.
Sylvia is a registered Art Therapist with the American Art Therapy Association. She is also a leader for A Window Between Worlds, which utilizes art to heal from trauma. Sylvia also recently completed her 200-hour certification to become a yoga teacher and likes to incorporate trauma informed yoga interventions to address trauma, PTSD, anxiety and depression.
Sylvia provides sessions in English & Spanish. She works with clients 5 and up and offers individual and family sessions.
